Donnie Howell

Donnie was born February 9th, 1947 in Florala, AL.  He was a long time resident of Niceville, FL. He graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in 1965. After graduation he worked at Bay Lumber Company in Niceville. He worked for Vitro Services & was stationed in Guantanamo Bay for a year. After returning home he went to work at Niceville Cash & Carry as a sales man and was soon promoted to General Manager. He opened Coastal Lumber & Building Supply in 1984 with his brother in-law Joey Roberts.  Donnie was a member of Niceville Okaloosa Masonic Lodge #312 where he became Worshipful Master following in his dads path who was Worshipful Master before him.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved traveling to the mountains.  Donnie was a fantastic cook and enjoyed cooking for his friends and family. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Niceville. Donnie is survived by his loving wife Donna, son Sean Howell, Grandson Shane Howell (Megan), granddaughter Shelby Howell, twin sister Bonnie Roberts (Joey), sister in-law Dian Howell, brother Jerry Mitchem (Virginia); nieces Michele Ray (Gilbert), Beccalee Escobedo (Scott); nephews Greg Stephens (Elaine), Paul Roberts (Amanda), William Howell (Christy) and a loving family of cousins, great nieces, great nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Doris Howell, sister Peggy Stephens and brother Butch Howell. Donnie died Wednesday July 4th, 2019 at his home in Maylene, AL with his wife and son by his side.

Visitation will be July 10th at First Baptist Church of Niceville from 10:00-11:30, service to follow with Bill Grimes officiating. Graveside service immediately after at Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shane Howell, Caleb Powell, Brian Sheppard, Matt Willingham, John Edge and Kyler Carter. Flowers or a contribution may be made to a charity of your choice.
