Evelyn Ann (Owens) Jellison

October 28, 1940 ~ October 26, 2019 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Evelyn Ann Owens Jellison, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 26, 2019.  She is the daughter of John and Louise Owens, was born October 28, 1940, in Knox County, Tennessee.  Upon graduation from high school in Oak Ridge, she enrolled at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.  She met her loving husband of 61 years, Robert Joseph Jellison, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where they embarked on a journey with the U.S. Army that spanned 37 years.

Those that choose to endure a career with the military understand that the most important member of the family team is the Army wife, and Evelyn was no exception. Like her peers, she courageously held down the fort at home during her husband’s numerous combat tours and deployments.  Most noteworthy among her many accomplishments occurred supporting Army facilities as the President of both the Fort Polk and Fort Campbell Officer Wives Clubs.  There is a saying that, “Behind every successful Army officer, is a successful Army wife” and Evelyn ensured that her husband and family received the best that she could provide.

In addition to her devotion to family, she was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Niceville, FL, and she drew great joy supporting those in need as a volunteer with the Sharing & Caring ministry.

Mrs. Jellison is survived by her husband, Joe Jellison; her sons, Joey Jellison of Huntsville, AL and John Jellison of St. Louis, MO; her daughter, Katie Jellison of Hollywood, FL; one grandson, six granddaughters and two great grandchildren.

A Service of Remembrance of Evelyn’s life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1407 John Sims Pkwy E, Niceville, FL on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 1:30 PM.  Should friends desire, donations may be made in Evelyn’s honor to Sharing & Caring, 104 Bullock Blvd, Niceville, FL 32578.
