Joseph F. McNulty Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2020 with his family by his side.
Joseph was born on August 27, 1941 in Long Island, NY to Lillie and Joseph F. McNulty Sr. He was raised in Albany NY, and shortly after his high school graduation in 1960, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for 21 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant before his retirement in 1981. Joseph served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Florida, South Carolina, Texas, Idaho, New York, Bermuda, and Thailand, where he met the love of his life, Song. Joseph and Song, along with their children Tina and Jeffrey, ultimately settled down in Valparaiso, Florida. A true patriot, Joseph would proudly raise the US Flag up the flagpole in his front yard each morning until his declining health prevented him from doing so.
Although he was raised in the Catholic church, he was baptized in 2012 at the First Baptist Church on Bayshore in Niceville, Florida. Joseph and Song also had a home in Thailand, and when they would visit, they dedicated their time and money to serving their community and church there. He helped to establish and minister the Christian faith at the New Life Church and selflessly gave his time by volunteering at the Blessing House church in Ubon, Thailand.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Neil. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Song McNulty, brother John and children, his sister Kathleen Farnan and her husband Gene and children, his daughter Tina Wilson and her husband Bruce and grandson Evan, his son Jeffrey and his wife Cara, along with their children, Connor, Violet, Brock, and Olive.
His family would like to thank his friends and wonderful church family at First Baptist Church on Bayshore in Niceville, FL for their love and support. The friendships that he made within the church were important to him and provided a great deal of comfort in his final days.
Services for Joseph will be Saturday, July 18, 2020 with a viewing at 10am and a memorial service at 11am at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home at 1405 John Sims Parkway East, Niceville, FL 32578. Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.mclaughlintwincities.com
