Katherine grew up in Glenmora and graduated Valedictorian from Glenmora High School in 1951. She received her BS in Education in 1954 from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. She was president of her Sorority Alpha Sigma Alpha. Katherine and Curtis were married in 1954, as Curtis was commissioned as a 2LT in the Army thus their military life began. Katherine’s life revolved around her husband’s Army career for 30 years as they had assignments throughout the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii and Germany. She taught Middle School Home Economic classes for a few years, but cheerfully shared her talents doing volunteer work through their Army assignments with Girl Scouts, Red Cross, Financial Counseling and Officers Wives Club. She had lived in 28 homes all over the world and found decorating each a joy! After retirement from the Army life she had a dream come true in Florence SC-manager of Warrens Fashion Fabric Store. She was a talented seamstress and truly loved working with so many customers who loved to sew and design their own clothes as she did.

In 1995 Katherine and Curtis moved to Niceville, FL and built their dream retirement home in Bluewater Bay. They traveled throughout the world visiting many countries and friends. Katherine was active for many years with Bluewater Baptist Church, playing tennis, Bridge and Bunco. She loved having pets all  her life and her loving kitty, Sugar, is now living in Georgia with Sonja and Kevin. Katherine loved    cooking, traveling, decorating her homes, sewing for herself and daughter and granddaughters and their Barbie dolls! She loved working in her yard filled with the Pride of Mobile Azaleas. She looked forward  to being with her dear friends almost every day at “The Picnic Table” on Glenlake Circle. She adored her time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, Mommie, Katherine and KayKay. She has always been known for being kind, gracious and sincere. She will be remembered for her love of family and her little church. She loved life and it showed everyday with her smile and faith. She leaves us with such happy memories.
