Lawrence E. Price better known as Larry, Buddy, or simply “Price” went home to heaven on Sunday, August 16, 2020. He was born in Glouster, Ohio on August 24, 1940. He came to Florida by way of the U.S. Air Force in January 1964.

He is survived by his wife, Celia Price known to many as Jo, of 52 years, son Larry, daughter Lorie and fiancé Mike Ward. He has 3 grandchildren, Zachary, Kaitlyn, and Cheyenne. In 2015 Mike’s children joined our family and he gained 3 more grandchildren, Mike, Allen, and Christal along with the growing family of 4 great grandchildren. He has one sister-in-law, Virginia Haager and two special nephews, Richard Helms and wife Jeanette and Don Helms. A special cousin that was like a sister Donna Jo Smith and husband Randy. A special nephew, Steve Brainard and a special niece, Cheryl Conkle. He has many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his son, Carl Price, parents Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Price, son-in-law, Raymond Fox, three sisters, Saundra, Mary Lou, and Sue, a special aunt and uncle, Joan and Donald Price, special niece Zeta, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1968. He met Celia and decided not to reenlist. On February 2, 1968, they got married. He worked Civil Service for the next 38 years. He worked in the warehouses for the Commissary at Hurlburt Field, then he moved to Eglin AFB working with Range Support. To provide for his family he would work a second job in the evening, which would consist of a custodian for Okaloosa County School Board for 3 years, and Mama Rosa Pizza. After retiring from Civil Service, he worked for the City of Defuniak Springs for 2 years and at Wal Mart in Defuniak Springs.

He was involved with the church where is would teach Children Church and drive the bus to pick children up for church. He dedicated many hours to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. During Larry and Lorie’s school age years, he would help with school carnivals, field days, chaperones band trips or hauled band instruments and ran the concession stand at Meigs Middle School and Choctawhatchee High School. When Zachary and Kaitlyn were in school at Antioch Elementary School, he dedicated countless hours laminating for teachers and the librarian, helping with Aviator Day, and making wood toys for the Art Show Auction. He made toys and donated the toys to the Ronald McDonald House, also.

He is best known for is twinkling eyes, quick smile, loving heart, and willingness to always help others. He loved going freshwater fishing and we always had to be up before daylight and if you were not there when he said he was leaving, you got left.

To celebrate his life, services will be Saturday, August 22, 2020 at McLaughlin Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach. Family Visitation at noon. Friends at 1:00pm. Services at 2:00pm in the chapel and burial to follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.

A special thank you to Dr. Michael Roberts for hours of loving care of Mr. Price. Thank you to Dr. Morrobel, his cardiologist. Thank you to the staff on Kindred Home Healthcare and the nursing staff at Twin City Hospital.
